Winter Soups and Wine
Holidays are over. Time to cocoon and wait for Spring to arrive. There is nothing like a hot bowl of soup, a glass of wine and a fire in the fireplace. Here are four soup and wine pairing suggestions to help you get through the cold days ahead.
1) Beef and Vegetable with Trahana This is one of those homey, coat your tummy snuggle up soups. We like to pair with Pirgakis Estate "Spylia" Agiorgitko.
2) Mushroom Veloute' This earthy soup can go either white or red, depending on your mood. Pair with Migas Chardonnay or even Alpha Estate's Hedgehog Xinomavro.
3) Mediteranean Kale and White Bean Soup with Sausage This Big Soup calls for a hearty Xinomavro from Naoussa. We recommend Naoussa by Argatia.
4) The Classic French Onion Soup must be served with the freshness of Fteri by Troupis Winery The floral tones and acidity will work great with those caramelized onions and gooey cheese!
5) Greek Meatball Soup is another must have winter soup. Every greek table has this one. Our family likes it more as a porridge than a soup, in other words, a bit thicker. This would go fantastic with Palaios Ampelos by Migas!
