Megas Oenos 2014

In the high elevation viticultural zone near Nemea, in the Peloponnese, George Skouras cultivates the local Agiorgitiko grape as well as Cabernet Sauvignon. This Gran Vin (Megas Oenos, in Greek), represents the blend of the two varietals (75-25%), that have been aged in French oak for 18 months. While the Agiorgitiko shows its fruity character, it is well balanced by the more austere and angular Cabernet Sauvignon. Red fruit and herbs lead to a medium to full body mid palate, with bright acidity ever-present. The finish is long and silky.  This is a refined effort, more Burgundian in texture, ready to drink now (decant for an hour), or easily keep for 10 years or so. Great with dry aged steak on the grill, duck breast, mild sausages, and certainly aged yellow cheeses. ABV 14% RP89
