Douloufakis Winery

"I belong to the third generation of winemakers in my family, following in the footsteps of my Grandfather and Father. Wine for me is much more than a simple word! It is my profession, my hobby, my pleasure! Engaged with wine, I am a part of a tradition and culture that counts more than four thousand years in this place!" Nikos Douloufakis

A winery to watch on the island of Crete, it is situated in the area of Dafnes, just south of the capital city of Herakleion. The family traces its winemaking tradition back to 1930, but it wasn’t until 1991 that the modern area begun under owner Nikos Douloufakis. The winery excels  with the local varietals such as Vidiano and Liatiko, as well as the traditional French grapes. Wines are made in a modern style, with depth and precision, yet there is always a sense of place. Many of them have received international accolades, as well as high ratings.
