Old school Xinomavro lovers, rejoice! This wonderful wine from the area of Naoussa, was aged for 12 months in French oak. Medium ruby in color, it is earthy, structured, powerful, angular and tannic! The kind of wine that requires patience, at 12 years of age is firing on all cylinders. Laser like acidity is matched by well integrated tannins. With decanting the fruit becomes apparent, a lovely touch for an aged old world wine. The finish is persistent and goes on for a while. Definitely for long term cellaring, or decant for a good 5 hours and enjoy with high protein diet; all things meat, prepared in stews, grilled, roasted as well as mature cheeses. A classic, old school Xinomavro from Naoussa, this is a spectacular wine. It was aged for 12 months in French oak. Medium ruby in color, the nose is a bit shy (at first). This is all about structure and tension, at this stage. The tannins are ever-present, balanced by mouthwatering acidity that provides lift for the fruit. There is a lot of complexity and depth in this Xinomavro, making this wine one of Greece’s finest examples of superb winemaking. The finish is fresh, long and persistent. This wine is made for the wine cellar, but if you insist, decant for a while and enjoy with hearty meats, stews, and aged yellow cheeses. Produced by Foundi Estate
