Young Vines-2018

A beautiful, all Xinomavro wine, from the young and talented Apostolos Thymiopoulos.  This wine is made with fruit from younger vines (10-18 yrs old-some will consider these not young, but hey, this is Greece) grown at an average elevation of 1400 feet. This opens up with lovely red fruit, cherry, plum and a medium red color. On the palate, the classic acidity of the varietal makes itself evident, but is in perfect harmony with the fine tannins. This medium body, fruit forward wine has an International feel to it; often compared to Nebbiolo, this is closer to a red Burgundy, in style. Great intro to the wine styles of northern Greece, this is ready now, but can benefit in the cellar for another 5-8 years. Enjoy with pasta in tomato based sauce, lighter meats on the grill, as well as game and mature cheeses. ABV13% JR16.5
